Volunteer Job Description
Position Title: Adult Education Clerk
Program: Catholic Charities – Comprehensive Refugee Program/ ESL-Adult Education
Responsibilities for Volunteers include but are not limited to:
· Assist the ESL Manager.
· Answer calls and return client phone calls.
· Providing information/resources to clients/participants by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
· Help the ministry by carrying out clerical tasks such as filing, data entry on the computer, and organizing/labeling files.
· Participate in outreach activities as needed.
· Accurately document client information.
· Scan and file accordingly.
· Providing information to supervisor co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
· Record hours on Get Connected (volunteer website) at the end of each month or report hours to the Case Manager or Director.
· Comply with established standards of ethics and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
· Preferable language (Spanish, English, Creole)
· High School Diploma preferred. Customer service, administrative, or social work experience is a plus.
· Willingness to interact with people from different cultures.
· Needs to work patiently with people with limited English ability.
· Will need to be fingerprinted with the Diocese of Orlando and the Department of Child and Families and complete a security clearance.
· Must be 18 or older.
· Ability to communicate respectfully with employees, clients, and community members.
· Ability to work with culturally diverse staff and clients.
· Must be self-motivated to do tasks as needed.
Training:
· Before meeting with the clients, attend a brief orientation at the Catholic Charities office; meet or talk with the program manager.
Scheduling:
· This is flexible and should be decided by the manager.
