Position Title: Teacher Aid / Assistant

 

Program: Catholic Charities Comprehensive Refugee Program

 

Responsibilities:

·     Commit to visiting the classroom at least once before starting volunteering and contacting the Program Manager for the first visit. 

·     Help to improve English skills.

·     Reinforce lessons by tutoring individual students or small groups.

·     Provides support to the lead teacher in charge of a classroom. 

·     Assist in improving computer literacy if needed.

·     Record hours on Get Connected (volunteer website). Always sign in and sign out.

·     Arrive at least 15 minutes before the class starts.

·     Contact the Program Manager to share information in case of any questions or concerns. 

 

Qualifications:

·     A willingness to interact with adults from diverse cultures.

·     Needs to work patiently with people with limited English ability.

·     Need to be fingerprinted and have a security clearance completed with Catholic Charities of Central Florida and the Department of Children and Families.

·     Must be 18 or older

 

Training: 

·     The Teacher Aid/Assistant must attend a brief orientation at the Catholic Charities office and meet or talk with the Program Manager before meeting with the class.

 

Scheduling: 

·    This is a programmed schedule, and depending on the location, we will send messages when the opportunities are available. Volunteers should inform the Program Manager when they decide to stop volunteering.
